Leadbitter Glass creates hand made fused glass for use in window and door glass panels. Our decorative glass studio supplies homes around London with beautiful made to measure art glass panels. We can supply single or double glazed glass panels with designs of your choice.

What we do

We manufacture and deliver Etched Glass, Fused Glass, Bevelled Glass and Overlay Stained Glass panels to the London area. We use toughened safety glass as standard on all of our commissions and we are probably the only fused glass manufacturer using toughened glass in the London area. Our technique of Fused Glass is to UV bond our hand made Fused glass elements we make, to the toughened safety glass. An etched glass pattern can then be sandblasted into the glass to create a background design. This technique allows us to create regulation single or double glazed glass for doors and windows.

As with all orders placed with our studio, if you order Fused Glass for your London home, we supply you with a customer proof for approval before manufacture. Our unique Client Pages Service explains everything you need to know about the design service we offer. We never start work on any glass panel until the client has received and approved the scale drawing of the chosen glass design. This great service ensures you are 100% happy with your glass before we actually make it for you.

Tree Of Life Arched Door – SE6

In 2016 we received an order for our popular Tree Of Life design. The London area clients had a split door with round top panels. They chose the solid colour version over the floral tiles and they nominated their preferred colours. You can view their Client Page to see the drawing we supplied for approval. The photo below shows a snapshot of a section of this commission.

Rennie Mackintosh Commission For Prime Minister – undisclosed location

In 2016 we created a set of Charles Rennie Mackintosh style panels for an ex-Prime Minister for their London home. The design was chosen from our Fused Glass Rennie Mackintosh Gallery. You can see the drawings we supplied to the Prime Minister for approval on their Client Page. The photo below shows a close-up of a rose from one of the finished door glass panels. Although the background looks a little yellow, this is a trick of the photography and the background is actually a light grey finish. The rose was made using just one colour but again, the trick of the light shows some oranges which are not part of the glass.

What is Fused Glass?

Fused glass is created by slowly heating the pieces of cut, coloured glass in a kiln until they fuse together. The result is one beautiful piece of fused glass. To fuse glass successfully it is essential that the individual pieces of glass are “tested compatible” for fusing. If they are not compatible, the glass can become brittle and is liable to break. For this reason Leadbitter Glass only manufactures fused glass designs for London clients using Spectrum glass from America. We also use raw material glass from Italy in some of our Tree Of Life Range.

Fused Glass and Fused glass tiles are very versatile. They can be integrated within most decorative glass patterns and applications. Our fused glass tiles have been supplied to many London projects and are very popular with London based architects and interior designers.
