St Albans Decorative Glass

Founded in 1994, Leadbitter Glass has been manufacturing and delivering decorative glass throughout St Albans for over 30 years. St Albans Cathedral has the longest nave of any cathedral in England, and is the oldest site of continuous Christian worship in Britain, its distinctive rust-red Norman tower built from bricks recycled out of the ruins of Roman Verulamium. This period housing has always suited stained and etched glass particularly well, while bevelled and fused glass have become popular contemporary upgrades for many homes across St Albans over the years.

2 – Overlay Stained Glass to St Albans

3 – Fused Glass to St Albans

The photo below features one of our Fused Glass leaves, commonly used in our popular fused glass patterns. Rather than an original period feature, Fused Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade for many St Albans homes over the years, created by etching the background and adding fused glass tiles which stand around 6mm proud of the surface. These hand-made fused glass tiles are crafted in our UK studio, with many colours available upon request.

Popular fused glass collections include our Mackintosh Gallery and Tree Of Life Gallery. Each fused glass tile is hand-cut and placed in our kiln, where it is fused over 18 hours, creating unique and beautiful glass features. As with all our glass products, all fused glass panels are toughened and available as either single or double-glazed units.

4 – Bevelled Glass to St Albans

Much like fused glass, bevelled glass has become a favoured contemporary upgrade over the years rather than an original period feature for most St Albans properties. Our service

When customers place an order with us, they have the opportunity to preview their glass design before we begin production. Our glass artists create high-quality proofs to show you exactly how your glass will look. Once you review the drawings, you can request any adjustments to the layout and colours. We only proceed with manufacturing once you’ve confirmed that the design is perfect.

After crafting the glass, we deliver it directly to your home in St Albans or to your chosen window or door supplier.
