How Etched Glass Is Made

Every etched panel is made from clear toughened safety glass, covered by a stencil cut precisely to the shape of your design. We then sandblast at high pressure, wearing away every exposed section until a frosted texture is permanently worked into the glass.

Lifting off the stencil reveals the completed design underneath. As that frost sits directly in the glass, there’s nothing to fade, peel, or wear thin over time — quite different from a vinyl “etch-effect” sticker, which typically yellows and curls within just a few years.

If you have an old or damaged etched glass panel, our glass artists can often reproduce the original pattern closely, even when the piece itself can’t be repaired — as long as we have a photograph or fragment to work from.
