Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Fused Glass panels to homes and businesses across Guildford ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. Where Guildford’s period homes were traditionally fitted with etched or stained glass, Fused Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade in recent years, bringing a genuinely modern finish to doors and windows across the town.

Every Fused Glass design starts life as an etched background, onto which small, individually shaped tiles are kiln fired and worked into the surface — that’s what gives each panel a genuine sense of depth rather than just colour on flat glass. Panels are supplied single or double glazed, built to your own sizes for any door or window. Most orders qualify for free delivery across Guildford.

A Proper Look Before It’s Made

Fused Glass has more moving parts than most of our ranges — a background, a tile pattern, a colourway — so seeing it drawn out properly matters. Every order gets its own Client Page, where we post a to-scale, computer-drawn version of your panel a few days after you order. Want a different tile colour, a bigger gap between shapes, or the whole design shifted along the glass? Tell us and we’ll amend it — we keep going until the drawing matches what’s in your head, and only then do we start cutting.

Two Techniques In One Panel

Fused Glass is really two processes stacked on top of each other. We start with a sheet of toughened safety glass and sandblast it to lay down the etched background — the same technique used across our Etched range. Then, small pieces of coloured glass are cut, shaped, and UV bonded straight onto that surface, one at a time, until the design has built up in layers.

The fused pieces sit roughly 6mm proud of the glass, so you get real texture where the design calls for it, while the rest of the panel stays flat and built on the same toughened glass as everything else we make. There’s no re-leading or re-glazing to think about down the line, and a double-glazed version is available if you want extra insulation.
