Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Etched Glass panels to homes and businesses across Guildford ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. What Actually Happens To The Glass

People sometimes picture etched glass as painted or sprayed. It isn’t. We start with a sheet of toughened safety glass and mask off everything except the design itself, then blast the exposed areas with fine abrasive at real force. Where the mask protects the glass, it stays glossy; everywhere else, the surface is roughened to a permanent frost.

Because that texture is cut into the glass rather than sitting on top of it, there’s nothing to peel, fade, or scratch off over time — a real advantage over the self-adhesive “etch effect” films sold as a cheaper shortcut, which tend to yellow and lift within a couple of years.
