Bristol Etched Glass

victorian_etched_glass_doorEtched Glass supplier to the areas of Bristol

Etched glass or Sandblasted glass is one of the oldest forms of decorative glass on the market but it can also be used to create a truly modern and contemporary art glass feature and it has been used on many of Bristol’s grand buildings and commercial buildings. This traditional Victorian design has been created using a sandblasted design on clear toughened glass.

We also manufacture and deliver Bevelled Glass, Fused Glass and Overlay Stained Glass panels.

How is Etched Glass created?

Etched glass is a great decorative glass product that is very popular in the Bristol area and it is ideal for traditional door designs and contemporary commercial projects. This style of art glass gives an amazing effect without taking away any of the natural light. We have produced many etched glass designs that have been installed in the Bristol area and it is a very popular form of decorative glass.

A vinyl transfer is ‘cut to shape’ and overlaid onto one side of the glass, the glass is then inserted into a shot blasting booth and coarse grit/sand is fired at high speed over the design. Once an even finish is achieved, the vinyl transfer is removed, leaving the clear areas unmarked with the ‘blasted’ areas creating the etched design.

Etched glass house numbers

Your numbers up!!

Etched glass is an ideal form of decorative glass for text and numbers on door glass and door glass top lights. Many homes in Bristol have top lights above the door with an etched number and this is one of the most common requests that Leadbitter Glass receives.

If your Bristol home has a top light above the door, we can create a panel with your house number/name in etched glass and we can even show you exactly what it will look like before we manufacture it by using our Client Pages service. This service is free to all Bristol customers when an order is placed

Etched Glass Wallpaper Trees Kitchen Hatch

Many years ago we were approached by a client enquiring if we could make an etched glass design based on their wallpaper. The client sent us a photo of said wallpaper and we ran it through our tracing software. The trace gave a good result and we gave the client a price. Once the order was placed with us we then supplied a scale drawing to show the client how the glass would look and they approved the drawing. The customer kindly sent us photos of their glass and you can see the kitchen hatch doors in the main link above.

Acorns & Oak leaves Door

A client requested a new design to be created for their door using elements from 2 previous jobs we had created for other clients. The client loved the outer border style of one design but wanted the acorn and leaf detail from another order. We also created 2 plain border panels for the sides of the doorway. The title link above is the customers ‘Client Page‘ where we uploaded this new design for approval.

Etched Glass Downham Door – Bristol

Downham Doors have become quite popular in recent years and most doors come with plain glass. A Bristol client asked us if we could make a set of etched glass panels for their Downham door in 2011 and we asked them to choose a design for us to price up. The main link above shows you the design they selected and the result was a very simple but traditional etched glass set.
