Oxford Decorative Glass
Founded in 1994, Leadbitter Glass has been manufacturing and delivering decorative glass throughout Oxford for over 30 years. Oxford holds Mob Quad at Merton College, the city’s oldest residential quadrangle dating to 1378, alongside the striking Victorian polychrome brickwork of Keble College, which shocked the city on its completion in 1870 with bold red, blue, and cream stripes. This period housing has always suited stained and etched glass particularly well, while bevelled and fused glass have become popular contemporary upgrades for many homes across Oxford over the years.
We specialise in creating and supplying Etched Glass, Bevelled Glass, Fused Glass, and Overlay Stained Glass panels. While we focus on providing bespoke glass to residential customers, our work has also been featured in blockbuster movies and supplied to some of the world’s largest corporations.
4 Types Of Decorative Glass Available…
1 – Etched Glass to Oxford
Of the many types of decorative glass we supply, Etched Glass is one of the most requested across Oxford, particularly for period front doors. The image below demonstrates what etched glass looks like — it features an obscure background with a clear design. We also offer the reverse style, with a clear background and an etched design. Our Etched Glass Gallery showcases hundreds of designs, including popular styles like Traditional and Shadows of Nature.
Other well-loved etched glass galleries include our Charles Rennie Mackintosh and House Names and Numbers collections. We can also create bespoke etched glass panels based on your own photos or designs. All glass is available as either single or double glazed. As with all decorative glass orders, we create a scale proof for client approval before starting production.
2 – Overlay Stained Glass to Oxford
The image below showcases an excellent example of an Overlay Stained Glass panel, one of the most popular requests we receive from across Oxford. As with all of our glass, both single-glazed and double-glazed options are available, with toughened safety glass provided as standard for every order. Popular styles include selections from our Charles Rennie Mackintosh gallery and the Frank Lloyd Wright gallery.
We also offer a variety of other patterns, such as Countryside Landscapes and traditional designs, available in our extensive Door Galleries. The Main Gallery is a great place to begin your search. If you can’t find a suitable design, feel free to send us your own! We create bespoke glass panels every day, and we can design glass inspired by your current glass or based on a photo or drawing you provide.
3 – Fused Glass to Oxford
The photo below features one of our Fused Glass leaves, commonly used in our popular fused glass patterns. Rather than an original period feature, Fused Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade for many Oxford homes over the years, created by etching the background and adding fused glass tiles which stand around 6mm proud of the surface. These hand-made fused glass tiles are crafted in our UK studio, with many colours available upon request.
Popular fused glass collections include our Mackintosh Gallery and Tree Of Life Gallery. Each fused glass tile is hand-cut and placed in our kiln, where it is fused over 18 hours, creating unique and beautiful glass features. As with all our glass products, all fused glass panels are toughened and available as either single or double-glazed units.
4 – Bevelled Glass to Oxford
The image below showcases a Bevelled Glass window, part of our popular American Bevelled Glass range and a stunning example of the beauty of bevels. Much like fused glass, bevelled glass has become a favoured contemporary upgrade over the years rather than an original period feature for most Oxford properties. With thousands of bevel designs to choose from, we can create toughened glass panels featuring exquisite bevelled patterns. We offer both single and double-glazed options, and as standard, we provide a drawing for client approval before manufacturing.
What We Do
At our decorative glass studio, we specialise in crafting bespoke decorative glass panels for both homes and businesses in Oxford. We also supply our glass throughout the UK and occasionally receive orders from around the world. Most of our customers are homeowners looking to replace old or damaged glass. If your front door has plain or outdated glass, we can supply stunning new decorative glass to give it a fresh, elegant look.
We provide toughened safety glass as standard for all of our products, and you can choose from single, double-glazed, or even triple-glazed options if needed. We also offer laminated and fire-rated glass, though these types of glass may carry additional charges.
Our service
When customers place an order with us, they have the opportunity to preview their glass design before we begin production. Our glass artists create high-quality proofs to show you exactly how your glass will look. Once you review the drawings, you can request any adjustments to the layout and colours. We only proceed with manufacturing once you’ve confirmed that the design is perfect.
After crafting the glass, we deliver it directly to your home in Oxford or to your chosen window or door supplier.
