Worcester Etched Glass

Leadbitter Glass supply homes throughout Worcester with Etched Glass and Victorian Etched Glass Panels every year. Etched Glass is one of the oldest forms of decorative glass but increasingly it is used to produce modern and contemporary art glass panels. Etched Glass has been used in many Worcester homes, grand buildings and commercial buildings over the years.

Our studio also provides Stained Glass, Bevelled Glass and Fused Glass to clients in Worcester.

All orders placed with Leadbitter Glass receive a free design service. The Client Pages Service is the perfect way to view your etched glass panels in your sizes before they have even been produced. You will get the opportunity to request changes before we start work on your panel(s). Once you’ve seen the Computer Generated Image Prieview of how your glass will look, you can request any changes you would like. You may for example want a border moving, an extra butterfly or the size of a house number increasing. We will make the requested alterations until you are 100% happy with the pattern and want us to proceed with production.

Your numbers up!

Etched glass is the perfect type of decorative glass for house names and numbers, as well as door glass and fanlights. Countless Worcester homes have top lights above their doors elegantly displaying their house name or number. This type of etched glass is one of the most common orders we receive. If your Worcester home has a fanlight above the door, we can create a panel with your house number or house name in etched glass. We can also create matching door glass should you require it.

How is Etched Glass created?

Etched Glass can be found on hundreds of homes around the city. This type of decorative glass product is very popular in the Worcester area and it is ideal for traditional door designs and contemporary projects. This type of decorative glass produces a stunning effect without blocking the natural light from your home. We have produced many etched glass designs over the years which are installed across Worcester.

A temporary mask is ‘cut to shape’ and overlaid onto one side of the glass, the glass is then inserted into a sand-blasting booth and coarse grit/sand is then fired at high speed over the design. Once an even finish is achieved, the mask is then removed, leaving the unprotected areas ‘etched’ while the protected areas remain clear. If the glass is to be a single glazed panel, we will apply a protective sandblast coating to the etched side. If the glass is to be double glazed, we do not add the coating because the etched side would be contained within the sealed unit.
