Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Bevelled Glass panels to homes and businesses across Gloucester ever since. We also deliver to every other part of the UK. While Gloucester’s period properties were originally fitted with etched or stained glass, Bevelled Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade over the years for homeowners across the city looking to bring a sharper, more reflective style of decorative glass to their doors and windows.

All bevels in our library come with exact dimensions in millimetres, so you’ll know straight away whether your preferred pattern fits your window or door. Production only begins once you’ve approved the final drawing.

American Bevelled Glass

American Bevelled Glass continues to be one of our most requested styles, built from hundreds of small rectangular and square bevels arranged edge to edge across the full panel. Its roots trace back to a long tradition of American glasswork, and it’s a look many will recognise from film and television. Our rectangular pencil bevels come in a broad range of widths and lengths, giving our glass artists real freedom to design something distinctive for your Gloucester home.

Each bevel is hand-applied and UV bonded to a single sheet of toughened safety glass. In the traditional method, lead alone held the small pieces together with no supporting glass base beneath — closer in construction to a jigsaw than a solid panel.

Our modern technique fixes the problems that older method created. A single sheet of toughened glass closes off the gaps a lead-only “jigsaw” panel would leave for cold draughts, and it’s also available as a double-glazed unit for extra insulation. Certain bevel shapes and clusters come in bronze, blue, or green glass, with a Gluechip texture available on select pieces for extra character.
