Fused Glass Blue Leaves 4 Panel Door – Herefordshire
In 2020, we were approached by a client in Herefordshire to supply four panels for their front door. The design they chose was our Q021 [...]
Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Fused Glass panels to homes and businesses across Hereford ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. Where Hereford’s period homes were traditionally fitted with etched or stained glass, Fused Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade in recent years, bringing a genuinely modern finish to doors and windows across the city.

Every Fused Glass design begins with an etched glass background, onto which small handmade fused tiles are kiln fired and incorporated into the panel, giving each piece a genuine sense of depth and texture on top of its colour. Panels are supplied as single or double-glazed glass, built to your own sizes for any door or window. The great majority of orders qualify for free delivery across Hereford.

We’ve supplied glass for a Prime Minister’s home, for Hollywood film sets, and for well-known musicians and billionaires — though the vast majority of what we make is still for homeowners across Hereford. We also produce other styles of Decorative Glass for Hereford clients, including Stained Glass, Bevelled Glass, and Etched Glass.

Fused Glass involves more variables than most of what we make — background pattern, tile shapes, colourway — so we make sure every Hereford order is properly drawn out before anything reaches the kiln. Within a few days of ordering, a computer-drawn proof appears on your own Client Page, scaled to your exact glass. If a colour needs adjusting or a tile resizing, tell us and we’ll amend it — as many rounds as it takes before we’re ready to fire.

We start every Fused Glass panel the same way we start our etched work — sandblasting a sheet of toughened safety glass to lay down the background pattern. From there, individually shaped pieces of coloured glass are cut and UV bonded directly onto that surface, one piece at a time, building the design up in real layers rather than printing it flat.

The fused pieces stand roughly 6mm proud of the surface, giving genuine texture where the pattern needs it, while the rest of the panel stays flat and built on the same toughened glass base as everything else in our range. There’s no re-leading or re-glazing to think about later, and a double-glazed version is available if you want extra insulation.
