Etched Glass Windosr
Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Etched Glass panels to homes and businesses across Windsor ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. The Georgian streets around the Castle, walked by visitors from across the world, are exactly the kind of period setting where etched glass has always looked its best.

Etched glass, sometimes called sandblasted glass, obscures sections of clear glass to leave a permanent pattern behind. Every panel we make is bespoke to your own glass sizes, never taken from a generic stock design — family crests, favourite trees, and traditional Victorian motifs are all common requests here, and the vast majority of orders qualify for free delivery across Windsor.

It’s one of the oldest decorative glass techniques still made today, prized for letting through more daylight than a coloured panel would. Our glass has genuinely appeared in a Prime Minister’s home and on Hollywood film sets, though most of what we make ends up in ordinary front doors across Windsor. We also produce other styles of Decorative Glass for Windsor clients, including Stained Glass, Bevelled Glass, and Fused Glass.

Our Free Client Pages Design Service
Every Windsor order comes with its own Client Page, and within a few days of ordering, we post a computer-drawn proof built to your exact glass sizes. If the design needs adjusting — a different font on a house name, a wider border, a pattern rescaled — tell us and we’ll amend it, however many times it takes. We won’t touch the sandblaster until you’ve approved every detail.

Perfect For House Names And Numbers
Etched glass suits house names and numbers particularly well, and it’s one of our most common requests for the fanlight above a front door. If your Windsor home has one, we can create a panel showing your house number or name. For the sharpest result, we generally etch the surrounding background and leave the lettering itself clear, so it stands out at a glance.

How Our Etched Glass Is Made
Every etched panel begins as a sheet of toughened safety glass, with a mask cut precisely to the shape of your design fixed over the top. High-pressure abrasive is then blasted onto the exposed glass, wearing the surface down to a permanent frost wherever the mask doesn’t cover it.
Because the pattern is worked directly into the glass rather than added on top of it, there’s genuinely nothing to peel or discolour over time — a real advantage over a stick-on “etch effect” film, which tends to yellow and lift within a couple of years.

If a panel in your home has cracked or gone missing, a photograph is usually enough for us to reproduce the original pattern closely, even without the piece itself.
