Bury St Edmunds Decorative Glass

Leadbitter Glass manufactures and delivers many different forms of decorative glass around the Bury St Edmunds area. We manufacture and deliver Etched Glass, Bevelled Glass, Overlay Stained Glass and Fused Glass panels. We specialise in manufacturing and delivering bespoke glass to residential customers but we have also supplied glass for use in blockbuster movies and some of the worlds largest corporations.

Our studio produces four distinct types of decorative glass which are available for delivery to homes in Bury St Edmunds.

1. Etched Glass to Bury St Edmunds

Of the glass types we manufacture, Etched Glass (or sandblasted glass as it is also known) is one of the most popular requests we get from Bury St Edmunds customers. The close-up photo above shows a sandblasted glass design that has an obscure background with clear detail. If required, all patterns can also be ordered in the opposite style – a clear background with the design being obscure. Our galleries contain thousands of designs and you can view them here – Etched Glass Gallery. Some of the most requested designs are our Traditional gallery and our Shadows Of Nature gallery.

Other popular galleries are our Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired collection and the House Names and Numbers range. We also make bespoke etched glass designs based on the customers own requirements. All of our glass can be ordered in either single or double glazed toughened glass. Every customer that places an order will get to see a scale proof of their chosen design before the actual glass is made.

2. Overlay Stained Glass to Bury St Edmunds

The photo above shows a 1930s style design created for clients back in 2004. This type of decorative glass is called Overlay Stained Glass and it is a modern-day version of traditional stained glass. We have created hundreds of Overlay Stained Glass panels for homes around Bury St Edmunds. All orders placed with us are available in either single glazed or double glazed format. All of the glass we create is supplied as Toughened safety glass as standard. From the hundreds of decorative glass patterns available in our galleries, the Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired gallery and the Frank Lloyd Wright inspired galleries are two of the most requested styles.

Other popular styles that we receive requests for are Countryside Landscapes and our River & Seas designs. Traditional style designs can also be found in our extensive Door Galleries. The Main Gallery is the best part of the website to start searching for a suitable design for your home. If you still cannot find the perfect design for you, why not have a unique design made just for you. You can send us a photo of a style you love or a drawing of a design you would like us to create. We create bespoke designs for clients every week and some of our glass artists have spent more 30 years bringing bespoke and unique glass designs to life.

Islamic Leaded Pattern – Bury St Edmunds

We were approached by a Bury St Edmunds client many years ago to see if we could price up an Islamic repeat pattern. The client requested this glass to have a 25mm bevelled edge to each panel. Back in these days we had a supplier of bevelled edged glass but we can no longer find this product. The title link above will show you the repeat leaded design we created for the client.

3. Fused Glass to Bury St Edmunds

The photo above shows part of a Fused Glass design where fused glass leaves are used alongside a sandblasted background. Our fused glass panels are always created with etched glass alongside fused tiles. We have many different fused glass tiles for you to choose from and we can also make custom tiles with custom colours. If you want a red leaf or a purple flower, the choice is yours. Find any design you like and swapping colours out for your own preferred colours costs no more than a standard design.

Our most popular fused glass galleries include our Mackintosh Inspired Gallery and the stunning Tree Of Life Gallery. The fused glass tiles featured in our beautiful designs are all hand cut and kiln-fired in our studio. We use glass materials from Venice and the USA in our fused glass tiles. 18 hours is the time it takes to create a fused glass tile but they really are worth the wait. Fused Glass tiles are around 6mm thick when they are finished and these 3D elements really do give a whole new dimension to decorative glass. Toughened glass comes as standard and our panels are available in single glazed or double glazed format.

Slim Door Side Panels

Way back in 2010 we were asked to create some of the narrowest glass we had ever supplied and the client wanted a fused glass pattern featuring in the glass. At just 95mm wide this glass was narrower than the average hand. The client was in 2 minds and couldn’t decide if they wanted a Tree Of Life design or straight rectangle featuring square and circle fused glass elements. The title link above shows the options we supplied to the client to help them decide the right design for them.

4. Bevelled Glass to Bury St Edmunds

This beautiful Bevelled Glass window above was created by the Leadbitter Glass studio for American clients in Chelsea. This pattern is from our American Bevelled Glass range. The photo is a great example of how such a simple glass feature can be used to create a stunning feature window. With thousands of bevelled glass pieces and shapes available, the possibilities are endless. Single or double glazed toughened glass can be ordered and most sizes are available. As with all orders placed with Leadbitter Glass, a scale proof of your chosen design will be supplied to the customer for approval before any work starts on the actual glass.

Mackintosh Bevelled Glass Rose Door

In 2013 we created a tall slim bevelled panel for a clients door in Bury St Edmunds. The client requested a sandblasted background to the glass to aid privacy. The glass was created using 4mm toughened safety glass and the link above will show you the drawing we created for approval before the glass was made.

What we do

Our decorative glass studio specialises in creating bespoke decorative glass panels for homes and businesses in Bury St Edmunds. We also supply our glass anywhere in the UK and we sometimes receive orders from around the world. Most of the orders we receive are from homeowners looking to replace their old or damaged glass. If you have plain or boring glass in your front door we can supply stunning new decorative glass to give your door a whole new lease of life.

Included with all our products is the provision of standard toughened safety glass. Your choices extend to single or double-glazed options, and for those seeking heightened insulation, we offer the possibility of triple-glazed glass. It’s worth mentioning, though, that selecting laminated or fire-rated glass comes with supplementary charges, beyond what is covered in the standard quotation.

Our service

When customers place an order with us, they get to preview their glass design before we make the actual glass. Our glass artists create high quality proofs to show you, the client exactly how your glass will look before manufacture. Once you get to see the drawings, you would have the opportunity to request alterations to the layout and colours. We only create the actual glass once the client has told us the design is absolutely perfect. After creating the glass, we deliver it directly to your Bury St Edmunds home or your chosen window or door supplier.

We also supply Decorative glass to the surrounding areas of Bury St Edmunds including:
