Etched Glass Sevenoaks
Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Etched Glass panels to homes and businesses across Sevenoaks ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. The town’s quieter residential roads, lined with well-kept period homes, are exactly the kind of setting where etched glass has always looked its best — understated, but unmistakably well made.

Etched glass, sometimes called sandblasted glass, obscures sections of clear glass to leave a permanent pattern behind. Every panel is scaled to your own glass, and there’s no need for anything showy — a well-judged design, cleanly executed, tends to speak for itself. The vast majority of orders qualify for free delivery across Sevenoaks.

It’s one of the oldest decorative glass techniques still in regular use, and among the least fussy — no colour, no lead, just a pattern worked directly into the glass. Our glass has appeared in a Prime Minister’s home and on Hollywood film sets, though most of what we make is for homeowners across Sevenoaks. We also produce other styles of Decorative Glass for Sevenoaks clients, including Stained Glass, Bevelled Glass, and Fused Glass.

Our Free Client Pages Design Service
Every Sevenoaks order comes with its own Client Page, and within a few days of ordering, a straightforward proof of your design appears there, scaled precisely to your glass. If something’s not quite right, there’s no need to over-explain it — just point out what to change, and we’ll send a revised drawing. We’ll keep adjusting for as long as it takes, and won’t start production until you’ve confirmed you’re happy.

Perfect For House Names And Numbers
Etched glass suits house names and numbers particularly well, and it’s one of our most common requests for the fanlight above a front door. If your Sevenoaks home has one, we can create a panel showing your house number or name. For the sharpest result, we generally etch the surrounding background and leave the lettering itself clear, so it stands out at a glance.

How Our Etched Glass Is Made
A sheet of toughened safety glass, a mask cut precisely to the design, and abrasive blasted at real pressure onto whatever the mask leaves exposed. That’s genuinely all there is to it — no gimmicks, no shortcuts. The exposed glass wears down to a permanent frost, while everything protected under the mask stays glossy.
Because that texture is worked into the glass itself, there’s nothing to peel or discolour later on, unlike a stick-on “etch effect” film, which tends to yellow and lift within a couple of years.

If an old etched panel at home has cracked or gone missing, a photograph is usually all we need to reproduce the original design closely.
