Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Bevelled Glass panels to homes and businesses across Plymouth ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. Plymouth’s period properties, from the Barbican’s Elizabethan warehouses to the city’s Georgian and Victorian terraces, were originally fitted with etched or stained glass, but Bevelled Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade for homeowners right across the city, bringing a sharper, more reflective style of decorative glass to doors and windows.

Our Bevelled Glass panels are built from small individual pieces of glass, assembled together into striking patterns and supplied as single or double-glazed glass for windows and doors. With hundreds of stock designs to choose from — diamonds, squares, rectangles, teardrops and more — the possibilities are close to endless. The great majority of orders qualify for free delivery across Plymouth.

We’ve supplied glass for a Prime Minister’s home, for Hollywood film sets, and for well-known musicians and billionaires — though the vast majority of what we make is still for homeowners across Plymouth. We also produce other styles of Decorative Glass for Plymouth clients, including Stained Glass, Etched Glass, and Fused Glass.

Every order comes with free access to our Client Pages design service. A few days after you order, we’ll send a computer-generated proof built to your exact glass sizes. Every bevel in our library is documented to the millimetre, so you’ll know immediately whether a particular pattern fits your door or window. Production only begins once you’ve approved the final drawing.

American Bevelled Glass is among our most requested styles, made up of hundreds of small rectangular and square bevels set edge to edge across the whole panel. It’s a style with deep roots in American glasswork, and one you’ll likely recognise from film and television. Our rectangular pencil bevels are available in a wide range of widths and lengths, giving our glass artists real scope to design something distinctive for your Plymouth home.

Each bevel is fitted by hand and UV bonded onto a single sheet of toughened safety glass. The old-fashioned method relied on lead alone to hold every piece in place, with no supporting glass base underneath — a construction closer to a jigsaw puzzle than a solid window.

Our modern technique solves the drawbacks of that older approach. A single sheet of toughened glass closes off the gaps a lead-only “jigsaw” panel would otherwise leave for cold air, and it’s also available as a double-glazed unit for further insulation. Certain bevel shapes and clusters come in bronze, blue, or green glass, with a Gluechip texture available on select pieces for added character.
