Founded in 1994, Leadbitter Glass has been manufacturing and delivering decorative glass throughout Plymouth for over 30 years. The Barbican holds the largest concentration of cobbled streets in the UK and over 100 listed buildings, including the Elizabethan House, built in 1584. St Andrew’s Church, rebuilt after being bombed during the Second World War, is home to stunning modern stained glass.

This depth of period architecture has always suited stained and etched glass particularly well, while bevelled and fused glass have become popular contemporary upgrades for many Plymouth homes over the years. We specialise in creating and supplying Etched Glass, Bevelled Glass, Fused Glass, and Overlay Stained Glass panels. While we focus on providing bespoke glass to residential customers, our work has also been featured in blockbuster movies and supplied to some of the world’s largest corporations.

1 – Etched Glass to Plymouth

2 – Overlay Stained Glass to Plymouth

Every panel is offered as single or double glazing, built as standard on toughened safety glass. 3 – Fused Glass to Plymouth

Below is one of our Fused Glass leaves, a familiar element within our fused glass patterns. Fused Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade across many Plymouth homes over the years, rather than a period feature in its own right. Each panel begins with an etched background, onto which individually hand-cut fused glass tiles are fixed, standing roughly 6mm proud of the surface. Every tile is made in our own UK studio, in whichever colours you prefer.

Our Mackintosh Gallery and Tree Of Life Gallery are two of our most popular fused glass collections. Each tile is hand-cut and fired in our kiln over roughly 18 hours, forming a genuinely one-off feature. Every fused panel is toughened, and available as single or double glazing.

4 – Bevelled Glass to Plymouth

The window below is part of our American Bevelled Glass range, and a genuinely striking demonstration of the beauty of bevels. As with fused glass, bevelled glass has grown into a favoured contemporary upgrade across Plymouth rather than an original period feature. We hold thousands of bevel patterns in our library, and can build toughened panels to virtually any design. Every order is single or double glazed as required, with a drawing supplied for your approval ahead of manufacture.

What We Do

Our decorative glass studio crafts bespoke glass panels for homes and businesses across Plymouth, and delivers throughout the rest of the UK too, with occasional orders reaching us from overseas. Most of our customers are homeowners replacing tired or damaged glass. A plain or dated front door panel can be transformed with genuinely striking new decorative glass.

Toughened safety glass is standard on everything we make, and you can choose single, double, or triple glazing depending on your needs. Laminated and fire-rated glass are also available, sometimes at an additional cost.

Our service

Every order includes a preview of your design ahead of production. Our glass artists put together a high-quality proof so you can see exactly how the finished piece will look, and adjust the layout or colourway as many times as you need. We won’t begin manufacturing until you’re entirely happy.

Once complete, we deliver the finished glass straight to your Plymouth address, or to your chosen window or door installer.
