Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Bevelled Glass panels to homes and businesses across Blackpool ever since. We also deliver to every other part of the UK. While Blackpool’s period properties — many built as guesthouses and homes during the town’s Victorian boom — were originally fitted with etched or stained glass, Bevelled Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade over the years for homeowners across the town looking to bring a sharper, more reflective style of decorative glass to their doors and windows.
Our Bevelled Glass designs are created using small pieces of glass assembled into beautiful patterns, supplied as single or double-glazed glass for windows and doors. All bevels in our library come with exact dimensions in millimetres, so you’ll know straight away whether your preferred pattern fits your window or door. Production only begins once you’ve approved the final drawing.
American Bevelled Glass
American Bevelled Glass ranks among our most requested styles — hundreds of small rectangular and square bevels arranged edge-to-edge to cover the entire panel. The style takes its name from its long-standing popularity in American glasswork, and it’s a look many will recognise from film and television. Available in numerous widths and lengths, these rectangular pencil bevels give our glass artists huge creative scope when designing your Blackpool panel.
Every bevel is applied by hand and UV bonded to a single sheet of toughened safety glass. The traditional method used lead alone to hold each piece together, with no supporting glass base at all — more akin to assembling a jigsaw puzzle than building a solid panel.
Compared to that older method, our modern technique offers real benefits. A single sheet of toughened glass closes the gaps a lead-only “jigsaw” panel would leave for cold air, and we can also build it as a double-glazed unit for further insulation. Certain bevel shapes and clusters come in bronze, blue, or green glass, with some featuring a Gluechip texture for added distinction.
