Etched Glass Yeovil
Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Etched Glass panels to homes and businesses across Yeovil ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. Yeovil’s town centre, gathered for centuries around St John the Baptist and its famously vast windows, is exactly the kind of place where etched glass has always looked its best.

Light is really the whole point of etched glass, sometimes called sandblasted glass — the pattern is worked into the surface rather than coloured, so far more daylight comes through than a stained panel would allow. Every design we make is bespoke to your own glass sizes; family crests, favourite trees, and traditional Victorian motifs are all common requests, and the vast majority of orders qualify for free delivery across Yeovil.

Our glass has appeared in a Prime Minister’s home and on Hollywood film sets, though most of what we make is for homeowners across Yeovil. We also produce other styles of Decorative Glass for Yeovil clients, including Stained Glass, Bevelled Glass, and Fused Glass.

Our Free Client Pages Design Service
Every Yeovil order comes with its own Client Page, where a computer-drawn proof, built to your exact glass sizes, goes up within a few days of ordering. If the design needs stretching to fill the panel, or the lettering nudging up a fraction, let us know — we’ll revise it and send it back, as many times as you need. We won’t start sandblasting until you’ve told us it’s ready.

Perfect For House Names And Numbers
Etched glass suits house names and numbers particularly well, and it’s one of our most common requests for the fanlight above a front door. If your Yeovil home has one, we can create a panel showing your house number or name. For the sharpest result, we generally etch the surrounding background and leave the lettering itself clear, so it stands out at a glance.

How Our Etched Glass Is Made
We start every panel with a sheet of toughened safety glass, applying a mask cut precisely to your chosen design over the top. Fine abrasive is then blasted onto the exposed sections at real pressure, wearing the surface down to a permanent frost wherever the mask isn’t protecting it.
Because that texture is worked into the glass rather than applied on top, it lets light through evenly and never peels or discolours — unlike a stick-on “etch effect” film, which tends to yellow and lift within a couple of years.

Got an old etched panel at home that’s cracked or gone missing? A photograph is usually enough for our glass artists to reproduce the pattern closely, even without the piece itself.
