How Our Etched Glass Is Made

Etched glass begins with a clear sheet of toughened safety glass, masked with a stencil cut to your exact design. We then sandblast at high pressure, wearing a permanent frosted texture into every section left exposed.

With the sandblasting finished, we peel away the stencil to reveal the completed design. Because that frost is worked directly into the glass, it stays there permanently — it won’t fade, peel, or wear thin, unlike a vinyl “etch-effect” sticker, which tends to yellow and shrink within a few years.

If you have an old or damaged etched glass panel, our glass artists can often reproduce the original pattern closely, even when the piece itself can’t be repaired — as long as we have a photograph or fragment to work from.
