Replacement Feature Window Panel Edinburgh

sgo_glasgow_remakeIn 2012 we were contacted by a client in Edinburgh and he was quite desperate to replace a broken leaded glass feature window. this broken piece was part of a set of 3 pieces of glass that made up an ornate and colourful landing window. The original window was created by a company called SGO from Glasgow and the customer notified us that they were no longer trading so he could not get a replacement from them.

The client was quite concerned about the colour matching process because he had sent photos of the glass to local glass manufacturers, only to be told it wasn’t possible to re-create this design accurately. The images were emailed to our studio and we were very confident that we could get a really close. We told the client that if we couldn’t get a perfect match, it would be extremely close.

The client sent the original broken panel to us and as you can see by this photo above, the glass was totally. Only the lead strips and coloured films were holding the design together. We re-created the design and as you can see by the image below, a near perfect match was achieved. The panel also had an italic text to the top of the Overlay Stained Glass Window and we also recreated this perfectly. The base glass used was Minster Glass.
