Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Fused Glass panels to homes and businesses across Blackburn. We also deliver to every other part of the UK. Blackburn’s Victorian terraces and Edwardian villas — many built during the town’s cotton-milling heyday — offer plenty of scope for a more contemporary style of decorative glass, and fused glass has become a favourite of ours for bringing a modern finish to doors and windows in areas like Bastwell and Mill Hill.
Our Fused Glass designs always begin with an etched glass background pattern, onto which small fused glass tiles are UV bonded, giving each panel real depth and texture alongside its colour. Every panel is supplied as single or double-glazed glass, made to your own sizes for windows and doors. Almost every panel we make qualifies for free delivery to Blackburn addresses.

Our Free Client Pages Design Service
Every order includes free access to our Client Pages design service. Within a few days of ordering, we’ll send you a computer-generated proof showing exactly how your chosen design will look, built to your own glass sizes. You can ask us to adjust the tile colours, resize elements, or move the pattern within the panel until you’re completely happy. Production only begins once you’ve approved the final drawing.
How Fused Glass Is Made
Every Fused Glass panel starts life as a piece of toughened safety glass, sandblasted to create the etched background pattern. Small pieces of coloured glass are then shaped and UV bonded directly onto that etched surface, building up the design in layers until the finished pattern takes shape.
The fused glass tiles stand around 6mm proud of the surface, giving each design a genuine tactile detail exactly where the tiles sit — while the rest of the panel stays completely flat, since it’s built on the same single sheet of toughened glass used across our other decorative glass styles. That combination of raised tile-work and a flat, solid base keeps the durability and energy efficiency of a single sheet of toughened glass. It never needs re-leading or re-glazing, and can be manufactured as a double-glazed unit for even better insulation.
