Leadbitter Glass manufactures and delivers many different forms of decorative glass around the Winchester area. We manufacture and deliver Etched Glass, Bevelled Glass, Overlay Stained Glass and Fused Glass panels. We specialise in manufacturing and delivering bespoke glass to residential customers but we have also supplied glass for use in blockbuster movies and some of the worlds largest corporations.
Our studio produces four distinct types of decorative glass which are available for delivery to homes in Winchester.
1. Etched Glass to Winchester

Of the many types of glass decorative glass we supply, Etched Glass is one of the most popular requests we receive from the Winchester area. The image above shows what etched glass looks like and basically, it is an obscure background with a clear design. All designs are obviously available in the opposite style – clear background and etched design. We have hundreds of designs in our Etched Glass Gallery and popular styles are Traditional or our Shadows Of Nature.
Other popular etched glass galleries are our Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the House Names and Numbers gallery. We can also create bespoke etched glass panels based on your own photos or drawings. All glass is available single or double glazed. As with all decorative glass orders, a scale proof is created for client approval before the glass is started.
Victorian Etched Glass Door Panel – Winchester
In 2021 we created a Victorian style etched glass panel for a client in Winchester. The door it was to be installed into was a very rare style of door. If you visit the link above you will see the drawing we provided to the customer before we made the glass. The dashed line represents the “visible area” of the glass once it is installed. This dashed line indicates where the beading obstructs the glass so the client can get a good view of the design they will see once it is installed. The very unique thing about this door was how wide the beading was. Usually a beading would be maybe 12mm to 20mm at most. This door had beading 73mm wide!! It demonstrates why it is so important for a glass artist to know the visible size of each glass panel as well as the actual glass size. The design needs to be created within the visible area with none of the pattern being obstructed by the beading or frame.
2. Overlay Stained Glass to Winchester

The above image shows a great example of an Overlay Stained Glass panel. This type of glass is also one of the most popular requests we receive from the Winchester area. As with all of our glass, single glazed and double glazed options are available. Toughened safety glass is supplied as standard for all orders. Popular styles requested are chosen from our Charles Rennie Mackintosh gallery and the Frank Lloyd Wright gallery.
There are many other patterns to choose from such as Countryside Landscapes and traditional designs from our extensive Door Galleries. The Main Gallery is the place to start and if you cannot find a suitable design, send us your own design. We create bespoke glass panels every day so we can also make glass inspired by your current glass or from a photo/drawing you have.
Winchester War Cloister
In 2025 we were approached by one of our long time customers from Winchester, to create an overlay stained glass panel from a photograph. The photograph was of the War Cloister in Winchester and it was a real change of style from the previous panels ordered by this client. The client usually had landscapes and lakes as themes to the panels they ordered for their home. We created a proof based on their supplied photograph and as you will see in the link above, the result was stunning.
Stained Glass Landscapes – Winchester
The same customer from the job above has purchased many panels from our studio through the years. After we had supplied numerous door panels, they sent us some photos of their glass installed. The link above shows you some of the panels we created and all of them are linked to the Winchester area. See if you can spot some of the locations in the glass panels.
3. Fused Glass to Winchester

The photo above shows one of our Fused Glass leaves that is used in our popular fused glass patterns. Our fused glass panels are created by etching the background with the addition of stunning fused glass tiles. We create these hand-made fused glass tiles in our UK studio and many colours can be requested.
Popular fused glass galleries include our Mackintosh Gallery and our Tree Of Life Gallery. Our fused glass tiles are all hand cut and then they are placed in our kiln. 18 hours later they are fused and ready to be used to make our stunning glass panels. Fused Glass tiles are some of the most beautiful glass features we make. As standard, all glass is toughened and can be supplied single or double glazed.
4. Bevelled Glass to Winchester

The image above is a Bevelled Glass window we created for clients in Chelsea. This design is part of our popular American Bevelled Glass range and the photo is stunning example of the beauty of bevels. There are thousands of bevels to choose from and we can create toughened glass panels with stunning bevelled patterns. Again, single or double glazed is available and as standard we produce a drawing for approval before manufacture.
What we do
Our decorative glass studio specialises in creating bespoke decorative glass panels for homes and businesses in Winchester. We also supply our glass anywhere in the UK and we sometimes receive orders from around the world. Most of the orders we receive are from homeowners looking to replace their old or damaged glass. If you have plain or boring glass in your front door we can supply stunning new decorative glass to give your door a whole new lease of life.
We supply toughened safety glass as standard for all our products. You can choose single or double-glazed options or even triple glazed glass if it is required. We can provide laminated or Fire rated glass but these types of glass carry extra charges on top of a standard quotation.

Our service
When customers place an order with us, they get to preview their glass design before we make the actual glass. Our glass artists create high quality proofs to show you, the client exactly how your glass will look before manufacture. Once you get to see the drawings, you would have the opportunity to request alterations to the layout and colours. We only create the actual glass once the client has told us the design is absolutely perfect. After creating the glass, we deliver it directly to your Winchester home or your chosen window or door supplier.

Recent commissions for Winchester clients….
We have supplied many homes in Winchester with our beautiful glass. Below are some examples of local orders.
Etched Glass Victorian Door – Winchester
We had a very unusual request for some Victorian style etched glass recently. The client from Winchester had an extremely large beading around the glass edge. This was the widest beading we have ever come across and it was important to have the width of the bead. We always ask for the ‘visible glass sizes’ so this ensures that none of the design is obstructed by the beading. the link above will show you how the design looked.
Overlay Stained Glass Winchester Scenes
A repeat customer has ordered multiple overlay stained glass panels for doors from our studio down the years. Each panel had a Winchester theme to the glass. images of local scenes were provided by photo or by drawing and we created proofs for approval before manufacture. the link above will show you the finished panels once they were installed.
Simple Coloured Rectangles – Winchester
We supplied a panel for a door and a panel for a side panel with matching coloured rectangles for a client in Winchester. The simple design was created using Minster glass and the panels were both single glazed toughened safety glass. You can see the drawings created for approval in the link above.
We also supply Decorative glass to the surrounding areas of Winchester including:
