Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Bevelled Glass panels to homes and businesses across Rochdale ever since. We also deliver to every other part of the UK. While Rochdale’s period properties — many built for the workers of the town’s famous cotton mills — were originally fitted with etched or stained glass, Bevelled Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade over the years for homeowners across the town looking to bring a sharper, more reflective style of decorative glass to their doors and windows.
Our Bevelled Glass designs are created using small pieces of glass assembled into beautiful patterns, supplied as single or double-glazed glass for windows and doors. With hundreds of stock patterns to choose from — including diamonds, squares, rectangles and teardrops — the design possibilities are almost endless. Within a few days of ordering, we’ll send you a computer-generated proof showing exactly how your chosen design will look, built to your own glass sizes. All bevels in our library come with exact dimensions in millimetres, so you’ll know straight away whether your preferred pattern fits your window or door. Production only begins once you’ve approved the final drawing.
American Bevelled Glass
American Bevelled Glass remains among our most popular requests — a design formed from hundreds of small rectangular and square bevels set edge to edge across the whole panel. The style has a long-standing association with American glasswork, and it’s a look many will recognise from film and television. Our rectangular pencil bevels are available in a wide range of widths and lengths, giving our glass artists plenty of scope to design something individual for your Rochdale home.
Every bevel is hand-fitted and UV bonded onto a single sheet of toughened safety glass. Traditionally, lead alone held each small piece together, with no supporting glass beneath — closer in construction to a jigsaw than a solid panel.
Our modern technique resolves the drawbacks of that older method. A single sheet of toughened glass removes the gaps a lead-only “jigsaw” panel would leave for cold draughts, and it’s also available as a double-glazed unit for further insulation. Some bevel shapes and clusters come in bronze, blue, or green glass, with a Gluechip texture offered on select pieces for extra character.
