Paddington Bear Movie Glass
At Leadbitter Glass, we take immense pride in our craft, and nothing showcases our expertise quite like our work for the beloved Paddington Bear film series. From the first charming adventure to the latest instalment, Paddington in Peru, we’ve had the honour of supplying the stunning leaded glass panels that bring the iconic homes of Windsor Gardens to life on the big screen.

Our journey with Paddington began back in 2013 when Marmalade Films approached us to create the distinctive glass for the front door of 32 Windsor Gardens, the home of the Brown family, for the original Paddington movie. Working closely with the production team at Elstree Studios, we crafted two versions of the number 32 panel—one for interior shots and another for exterior filming on location in London. We also designed a complementary panel in different colours for number 34, the residence of the Browns’ infamous neighbour, Mr. Curry. After providing computer-generated previews to ensure every detail was perfect, our Overlay Stained Glass took centre stage when the film premiered on November 28, 2014. The glass shone in both the opening and closing scenes, adding a touch of timeless elegance to Paddington’s cinematic debut.

The success of the first film—dare we say, partly thanks to our beautiful glass?—led to a second collaboration for Paddington 2. This time, we were tasked with creating updated replicas of the original panels due to set changes, delivering them personally to Warner Bros. Studios in Watford. Francis Leadbitter had the privilege of visiting the working studio to ensure the new decorative glass for the Browns’ front door and Mr. Curry’s house fit seamlessly into the production. Released in late 2017, Paddington 2 once again showcased our craftsmanship, proving that our leaded glass is as much a part of Paddington’s world as marmalade sandwiches.

Most recently, we were thrilled to reunite with London’s favourite bear for Paddington in Peru. Building on the legacy of the first two films, we crafted fresh Overlay Stained Glass panels, including the fanlight above the Browns’ front door at 32 Windsor Gardens and matching glass for Mr. Curry’s residence at number 34. This time, we also designed a striking range of dark yellow glass panels for additional scenes, adding a vibrant twist to the movie’s aesthetic. Now playing in cinemas, Paddington in Peru continues to feature our work, cementing Leadbitter Glass as a key contributor to this heartwarming trilogy.

For over a decade now, we’ve proudly supplied Paddington Bear with leaded glass, enhancing the magic of his adventures on the big screen. Each panel is a testament to our dedication to quality and detail, blending traditional techniques with the demands of modern filmmaking. Whether it’s the classic charm of Windsor Gardens or the new hues of Peru, our glass has helped bring Paddington’s story to life—one door at a time.
