Overlay Stained Glass American Footballer – Denny

We created this American footballer panel recently for the First Down pub in Denny, Scotland. The original panel was not created by us but it had been broken and the pub owner wanted to have the glass replaced with the same design.

The original panel was created using laminated glass which can be quite weak but stays together when broken. If you look just under the arm holding the ball you can see the crack in the glass. We could not create a new panel using laminated glass and send it to Scotland with a courier because this type of glass is quite fragile especially before it is installed. We quoted the client for a panel made with 6mm toughened glass and the order was placed.

We created a computer generated image of how the glass would look once completed and we uploaded this to our Client Pages for customer approval before we made the actual glass. The client opted for clear glass as the base glass instead of Stippolyte as mentioned on the Client Page.

We worked with the client to agree the new colours to be used because we were creating the new panel from photographs that were emailed to us. The client wanted some colours that were more vibrant compared to the original glass. We created the design using 4.5mm, 6mm and 9mm lead strip and the glass had total colour coverage. The photo below shows the new panel once installed into the pub door.
