Lancaster Fused Glass
Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Fused Glass panels to homes and businesses across Lancaster ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. Where Lancaster’s period homes were traditionally fitted with etched or stained glass, Fused Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade in recent years, bringing a genuinely modern finish to doors and windows across the city.

Every Fused Glass design begins with an etched glass background, onto which small handmade fused tiles are kiln fired and incorporated into the panel, giving each piece a genuine sense of depth and texture on top of its colour. Panels are supplied as single or double-glazed glass, built to your own sizes for any door or window. The great majority of orders qualify for free delivery across Lancaster.

We’ve supplied glass for a Prime Minister’s home, for Hollywood film sets, and for well-known musicians and billionaires — though the vast majority of what we make is still for homeowners across Lancaster. We also produce other styles of Decorative Glass for Lancaster clients, including Stained Glass, Bevelled Glass, and Etched Glass.

See your glass before we create it!

Every Layer Planned Out First
With a background, a tile pattern, and a colourway all in play, Fused Glass benefits more than most from being properly drawn out before we start. Every Lancaster order gets its own Client Page, and a computer-drawn proof appears there within a few days of ordering, scaled to your exact glass. Want a different tile colour or wider spacing? Tell us and we’ll amend it — as many times as it takes before anything reaches the kiln.

Two Processes, Not One
Fused Glass starts life exactly the way our etched panels do — a sheet of toughened safety glass, sandblasted to establish the background pattern. From there, small pieces of coloured glass are individually cut and shaped, then UV bonded straight onto that surface, one piece after another, building the design up in layers rather than printing it flat.

The fused pieces sit roughly 6mm proud of the glass, giving genuine texture where the design needs it, while the rest of the panel stays flat and built on the same toughened base as everything else in our range. There’s no re-leading or re-glazing to think about down the line, and a double-glazed version is available for extra insulation.
