Etched Glass Reproduction Fleur Du Lys – Towcester

In 2015 we were contacted by a customer looking for a company that can reproduce a set of Victorian etched glass panels.

The original panels (pictured left) created 2 side panels to a large country house and a few of these small panels had been broken down the years. The original company that created these panels had probably long since gone out of business and it was not an ‘off the shelf’ design. At first glance it looks like all of the fleur du lys are the same fleur du lys repeated across the design but they are actually all slightly different.

Usually we would supply all of our glass panels in toughened glass with a minimum thickness of 4mm but this client requested 3mm non-toughened glass to match perfectly with the originals. After requesting close up photos of the broken panels along with certain measurements of gaps between the fleur du lys features of the pattern, we got to creating our drawing for approval. Some of the lines in the design were less than 1mm in width so this was a very detailed pattern. As you can see by the replacements we created below, the design matches perfectly.
