Fused Glass Green Leaves Side Panel – Edinburgh
A client in 2023 commissioned us to produce a fused glass side panel for their front door. The design they liked was our Cecilly Leaves [...]
Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Fused Glass panels to homes and businesses across Edinburgh ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. Where Edinburgh’s period homes were traditionally fitted with etched or stained glass, Fused Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade in recent years, bringing a genuinely modern finish to doors and windows across the city.

Every Fused Glass design begins with an etched glass background, onto which small hand-cut fused tiles are UV bonded, giving each panel a genuine sense of depth and texture on top of its colour. Panels are supplied as single or double-glazed glass, built to your own sizes for any door or window. The great majority of orders qualify for free delivery across Edinburgh.

We’ve supplied glass for a Prime Minister’s home, for Hollywood film sets, and for well-known musicians and billionaires — though the vast majority of what we make is still for homeowners across Edinburgh. We also produce other styles of Decorative Glass for Edinburgh clients, including Stained Glass, Bevelled Glass, and Etched Glass.

The stunning door set above was created for clients in Edinburgh City Centre back in 2024

Every order comes with free access to our Client Pages design service. A few days after you order, we’ll send a computer-generated proof built to your exact glass sizes, so you know exactly how it will look. Want the tile colours adjusted, an element resized, or the pattern shifted within the panel? Just say so — we’ll keep refining until you’re happy, and production only starts once you’ve signed off the final drawing.

Every Fused Glass panel begins life as a sheet of toughened safety glass, sandblasted first to establish the etched background. Small pieces of coloured glass are then individually shaped and UV bonded straight onto that surface, building the finished design up layer by layer.

Standing roughly 6mm proud of the surface, the fused tiles add real texture exactly where it’s wanted, while the surrounding panel remains flat, built on the same toughened glass base used across our whole range. That keeps all the durability and thermal efficiency of a single sheet of toughened glass — there’s never any need for re-leading or re-glazing — and a double-glazed version is available for further insulation.
