What actually is etched glass? In short, it’s clear glass that’s had sections of its surface permanently roughened to form a pattern, sometimes called sandblasted glass. How Our Etched Glass Is Made

Not from paint, and not from a film — it’s pure abrasion. A precisely cut mask goes onto a sheet of toughened safety glass, protecting everything except the pattern itself. Then we blast the exposed areas with fine abrasive under real pressure, wearing the surface down to a permanent frost wherever it isn’t shielded.

Because the texture is worn into the glass rather than stuck onto it, there’s genuinely nothing to peel or fade — unlike a self-adhesive “etch effect” vinyl, which tends to discolour and lift within a couple of years.

If a panel in your home has cracked over the years, a photograph of what’s left is usually enough for our glass artists to reproduce the original pattern closely.
