Fused Glass Leaves Fanlight – Melton Mowbray

Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Fused Glass panels to homes and businesses across Melton Mowbray ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. Melton Mowbray’s older buildings would traditionally have carried etched or stained glass, but Fused Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade across the town — a newer feature, made distinctive enough to earn its own reputation, in the same spirit as the protection Melton Mowbray holds over its own name.

Every Fused Glass design begins as an etched glass background, onto which small, individually handmade tiles are kiln fired and worked into the panel, giving each piece genuine texture as well as colour. We supply panels as single or double glazing, built to your own sizes for any door or window. Most orders qualify for free delivery across Melton Mowbray.

We’ve made glass for a Prime Minister’s home, Hollywood film sets, and the residences of well-known musicians and billionaires — though homeowners across Melton Mowbray remain the bulk of who we make it for. We also produce other styles of Decorative Glass for Melton Mowbray clients, including Stained Glass, Bevelled Glass, and Etched Glass.

Fused Glass involves more decisions than most of our other ranges — the background pattern, the tile shapes, the colourway — so every Melton Mowbray order gets its own Client Page before a single tile is fired. A computer-drawn proof, scaled to your exact glass, appears within a few days of ordering, and if a colour or tile size needs changing, tell us — we’ll amend it as many times as needed.

Every Fused Glass panel is built on the same foundation as our etched work — a sheet of toughened safety glass, sandblasted first to lay down the background pattern. From there, individually shaped pieces of coloured glass are cut and UV bonded straight onto that surface, one piece at a time, each one made distinctive enough to stand on its own.

The fused pieces stand around 6mm proud of the surface, giving genuine texture where the pattern calls for it, while the rest of the panel stays flat, built on the same toughened glass base as everything else we make. There’s no re-leading or re-glazing to think about later, and a double-glazed version is available if you’d like the extra insulation.
