Fused Glass Yellow Leaves – Scarborough

Founded in 1994, the Leadbitter Glass Studio has been supplying Fused Glass panels to homes and businesses across Scarborough ever since, delivering to every other part of the UK too. Where Scarborough’s period homes were traditionally fitted with etched or stained glass, Fused Glass has become a popular contemporary upgrade in recent years, bringing a genuinely modern finish to doors and windows across the town.

Every Fused Glass design begins with an etched glass background, onto which small handmade fused tiles are kiln fired and incorporated into the panel, giving each piece a genuine sense of depth and texture on top of its colour. Panels are supplied as single or double-glazed glass, built to your own sizes for any door or window. The great majority of orders qualify for free delivery across Scarborough.

We’ve supplied glass for a Prime Minister’s home, for Hollywood film sets, and for well-known musicians and billionaires — though the vast majority of what we make is still for homeowners across Scarborough. We also produce other styles of Decorative Glass for Scarborough clients, including Stained Glass, Bevelled Glass, and Etched Glass.

Fused Glass has a lot riding on getting the details right — the background pattern, the tile colours, the spacing — so every Scarborough order comes with a free Client Page before anything is made. A computer-drawn proof appears there within a few days, scaled to your exact glass. Want the tiles a different shade, or spread further apart? Tell us and we’ll amend it, however many rounds it takes — the kiln stays cold until you’ve said yes.

Every panel begins as a sheet of toughened safety glass, sandblasted to create the etched background pattern first. From there, small pieces of coloured glass are individually cut and shaped, then UV bonded straight onto that surface — one piece at a time, so the design builds up in real layers rather than sitting flat.

The fused tiles stand roughly 6mm proud of the surface, so there’s genuine texture where the design calls for it, while the rest of the panel stays flat and built on the same toughened glass base as everything else we make. Nothing needs re-leading or re-glazing down the line, and a double-glazed version is available for extra insulation against the coastal weather.
