Etched Glass Butterflies & Reeds – Kent

In 2015 we were asked to create one etched glass panel with Butterflies and Reeds for the design and the glass requested was 6mm toughened Low Iron glass. The reason for this is that the client was going to light the edges of the glass inside of the wooden frame. The lights used were RGB LED lights that changed colour continuously making the glass look red, blue, green etc at different times of the day. Low iron glass is great for this type of project because it allows the colours to be seen more accurately. We do not supply any lighting or fittings for glass panels so the client sourced the lights themselves.

Standard glass would give off a green tint when lit with a standard LED light because of the amount of iron in standard glass. You can see a similar job that was created using standard glass and was also lit HERE. View the original Client Page drawing.

Below you can see the same panel but it looks very different as the lights change colour.
