Hodgsons U9 Silfix Silicone

If you are installing double glazed units into timber frames, Leadbitter Glass does not guarantee the sealed units if putty or silicone is used. Some installers are still adamant that they want to use silicone or putty but be aware this will void the warranty. If you still intend to use these materials, some carpenters have stated that only one silicone works well with sealed units and it is Hodgsons U9 Silfix Silicone. The manufacturer of the double glazed sealant – Bostik, does not recommend any silicone or putty to be used with their product.

If you still intend to use silicone, you can order Hodgsons U9 Silfix Silicone from the link below.

How to use Hodgsons

Once the double glazed unit is placed into position using packers, fill all gaps around the unit with Hodgsons U9 Silfix silicone. Make sure every cavity is filled with Hodgsons U9 Silfix. Gently scrape the excess silicone flat to the glass with a clean plastic packer or similar flat item. Apply the timber beading flush to the double glazed unit.
