Etched Glass Text On Satin Glass

In 2014 we were approached by Blackburn Marketing to create a commemorative etched glass plaque, recording a visit by Her Majesty The Queen to Blackburn town centre. The Queen was to visit the Blackburn area for the first time since 2006 to hand out ‘Maundy Money’ The town wanted an etched glass plaque to commemorate her earlier visit where she unveilied a new sculpture in the town centre.

The glass used was Satin Glass and the text was sandblasted on to the glass and the etched areas were protected using our Sandblast Protection. Satin glass is a great product for this type of work and you can see by the image on the right, how the text looks different when viewed from different angles. There are no clear areas visible when using Satin glass. The glass was 4mm toughened glass and was to be installed into a steel frame.
